Many people yearn to go back in time and see how their lives would have unfolded had they chosen a different path. But this yearning confuses me: longing for something that is not possible leads to sorrow, so why do we need this ability to miss something that never happened? Wouldn’t we be better off without the ability to ask ‘what if?’ Why do we evoke this desire to wind the clock back, live again, and see where we could have ended up?
There is seemingly no upside to it, and it only makes us miserable.
‘Saudade’ (Portuguese for longing) tackles this idea - life is linear,
but we often wish we could go backwards–rewind–and take new paths
at old junctions.
The concept, photography, editing and effects are mine.
